Soundtrack
There are only a few minor details known about the soundtrack for GTA IV. We know that it was described as “modern and suits the mood perfectly”. Supposedly, there will not be many big name artists this time around, and more indie bands instead. A Rockstar spokesperson said that the range of music in GTA IV will span different decades and genres.
The first confirmed track in the press demo is “Sorrow Tears and Blood” by Fela Kuti. It has been confirmed that Philip Glass, the composer of the music used in the first trailer (“Pruitt-Igoe” theme from Koyaanisqatsi), will be involved in the production of GTA IV’s soundtrack. The song featured in the second trailer is titled “Arm In Arm (Shy Child Remix)” by The Boggs, a band based in New York. Ukrainian singer Ruslana has been confirmed as a voice actor and to have her music in the game. Dan Houser said that Rockstar is “certainly evolving the way the radio works”. From the demo, reported radio stations include an “Eastern European-sounding” dancing theme, and some Russian and East Coast rap. These may be placeholder stations, so we will announce the full soundtrack once it becomes available.
